June 25th, New York City at Madison Square Garden. Heavyweight veteran Matt Mitrione took on Pride FC Legend Fedor Emelianenko.  Originally scheduled earlier this year the bout was rescheduled after Mitrione was pulled out due to Kidney stones.

Fight started with Mitrione dancing on the outside.  Fedor strikes first with a leg kick and then both fighters engaged each other which almost resulted to a Double KO.  Mitrione was first to recover and delivered finishing blows to Fedor.  Mitrione knockout Emeliaenko at 1:14 of Round 1.

This victory will definitely put Mitrione in a very good position on top of Bellator’s Heavyweight division.  The real question is what is next to the Last Emperor?
