Sad news surprised the MMA community after a news broke out that UFC Hall of Famer, Matt Hughes was involved in a vehicular accident.  Reports said that he was driving his truck when a train hit him on the passenger side.

Other sources mentioned that the tracks did not have “did not have crossing arms and stuff“, meaning that there might be no clear warning if there is an incoming train.

Hughes was airlifted to a medical facility where he is being treated for head injury.

UFC President Dana White stated that Hughes family was traveling to be with him at the hospital.

So far no further details on Hughes situation have emerged.

Matt Hughes made his UFC debut in 1999. He became one of the most notable welterweight fighters with memorable matches against Josh Koscheck, BJ Penn and George St. Pierre. He was inducted in the UFC Hall of Fame on May 2010.
